Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park, established in 1885 in the Canadian Rockies. The park, located 110-180 km (68-110 mi) west of Calgary in the province of Alberta, encompasses 6,641 km2 (2,564 sq mi)[3] of mountainous terrain, with numerous glaciers and ice fields, dense coniferous forest, and alpine landscapes. This is the most visited National Park in Canada.
Jasper National Park is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies, spanning 10,878 km2 (4,200 sq mi). It is located in the province of Alberta, north of Banff National Park and west of the City of Edmonton. The park includes the glaciers of the Columbia Icefield, hot springs, lakes, waterfalls, mountains and plenty of wildlife.>
How to reach here:
Banff National Park is located in the province of Alberta in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. It is situated 128 km (80 miles) west of Calgary, 401 km (250 miles) southwest of Edmonton and 850 km (500 mi) northeast of Vancouver.
Jasper National Park is situated 370 km (192 mi) west of Edmonton, 404 km (256 mi) northwest of Calgary and 805 km (500 mi) northeast of Vancouver. Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver are all well connected to major cities by airways. For exploring the parks driving personal vehicle is recommended. Multiple Campsites are available in both Banff and Jasper National Parks. |
